The reaction between an acid and base to give salt and water is called neutralisation reaction.

here in the following reaction we can easily see how Hydrochloric acid is reacting with sodium chloride NaOH + HCl ———> NaCl + H2O

the nature of salt formed is dependent on the type of acid or base , if there is any difference then the pH of salt depends on the acidic or basic strength.

if the acid is strong, the salt will be acidic.

and if base is strong, the salt will have pH more than other 7.

Salts of weak acid and strong base:-

CH3COOH  +  NaOH   ——–> CH3COONa  +  H2O

Salts of weak base and strong acid

NH4OH + HCl ———-> NH4Cl    + H2O
