Why iron floats on mercury?

In which liquid the iron can float ? In any shape.

Iron can also float in a liquid.

The biggest fear comes to my mind while traveling in a boat is that , if it sunk ?

A small hole in the boat can make it to sink. When ever we think about iron and a liquid, we simply think that it will easily sink.

When we come across iron bar or solid iron , we think it will easily sink.

Sinking and floating simply depends upon the density of the substance. The substances which are less dense , float .

And the substances that are more dense , they sink.

So if we see the iron is floating , it means the liquid has to be more dense than that of iron.

Mercury is the element whose density is higher than that of iron. So if we dip iron in mercury, the iron will float in it.
