The catalyst is a substance that increase the rate of reaction without getting consumed in a chemical reaction. It is recovered as it is after the reaction.
The catalyst increase the rate of reaction by following two ways :-
1. The catalyst provide the surface area for the reactants to react easily.
2. The catalyst provides a new path for the reaction to occur with lower activation energy.
